RECORDED STRAIGHT FROM THE DESERT SANDS OF JOSHUA TREE – POWER TRIO ANNOUNCES DEBUT EP RELEASE

Rock/Hip Hop/Reggae group, Build a Machine, announces release date for their first and highly anticipated EP, ‘The Desert Sessions’

From playing dates at Coachella, The Vans Warped Tour, and backing Angelo Moore (Fishbone)’s solo project, to opening for renowned artists such as Passion Pit, Slick Rick, Steel Pulse, Bad Rabbits, Fishbone, Tribal Seeds, Passafire, and Fortunate Youth, there’s no stopping up-and-coming band, Build A Machine. Their latest venture? Putting out their first and unconventionally recorded EP, ‘The Desert Sessions’, which was recorded in the middle of the desert in Joshua Tree, CA.

Taking their cues from the ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers’ during the making of their classic “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” album, the adventurous 3 Piece Rock/Reggae/Hip Hip group (originally hailing from Boston, MA) decided to do things differently when recording their aptly named ‘The Desert Sessions’ EP. The trio traded in their usual expensive studio time and instead rented a mosaic tile house among the inspiring desert landscape of Joshua Tree, CA. Here, free from the daily tolls of life and limitations of working with producers, they were able to self-produce their tracks whilst experimenting and exploring different musical landscapes through improvisational jamming and freestyle singing. “It was a surreal experience where we incorporated a lot of chanting and mantra phrasing into our music, which was very influenced from our daily yoga practices”, said bassist/vocalist Thomas McCarthy. Heavily affected and influenced by the energy that the desert atmosphere provided, the band had decided to record all their music live together, a difficult and challenging feat, as well as engineer it themselves, truly making it their own. They then turned to Ryan Siegel of Los Stellarians (feat. SA Martinez of 311), who has worked with groups such as 311 and Glassjaw, to mix the record.

Now, proud of their hard work on their debut EP, ‘The Desert Sessions’, Build A Machine is gearing up for its official release with a date set for March 3rd, 2015. To add more fuel to the fire, the group will also be doing an iTunes exclusive pre-order on February 10th, two weeks before the official release date. This exclusive release will offer the entire EP at the much cheaper price of $2.99, which also includes an instant download, and will be available to purchase and promote via iTunes.
